Notes on the photo:
(1) I have a note stating the clothing (all cotton) was made by Mary Jane (my note says ‘Grandma’, however it could not have been Isabella, Mary Jane’s mother who died in 1909).
(2) This was a studio photo, and the back of the photo is stamped ‘DON. J. PENIGER T’VILLE’.
Circa 1937. Bluewater near Townsville – Waterside Workers Federation picnic or Railways picnic. My notes on this photo says there was a free train ride provided to the picnic.
L-R – Daughter Joyce (Gorman nee Raynor) holding baby Barry, Mary Jane
Mary Jane, with daughter Phyllis in the background. My note on this photo says Mary Jane is working on ‘washing and ironing’ which is in her lap. (Unsure why she would be ‘washing and ironing at a probable picnic which appears to be happening in the background!).
