Abraham, his mother Catherine, and his older brother Robert, emigrated to Australia on the Steamship Roma in December 1891.
Abraham was listed on the passage extract (above) as being aged 12 years, when in fact he was aged 15. This might have been in order to pay a lower rate for passage (ie. children’s rate). Abraham is listed in the Extract below as travelling in ‘Rockhampton Steerage’.

The above reads:
The B.I.S.N Company’s s.s. Roma, from London via ports, is due in Port Alma on Friday. The Roma has immigrants and 230 tons of general merchandise for this port.
The s.s. Roma, now in Sydney, has been chartered to load wool here for the London market, and is expected to arrive about the end of the month to the agency of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. The Roma will probably take hence about 5000 bales.

Do we know occupation of ROBERT
No, we don’t. If he is Abraham’s brother (and I think he is), I think he may have passed away early in his adult life (some recollection I have about him living near Mackay?). I’ll have a look at my family records – I may have his death certificate. I’ll let you know when I find out.
